Hawaii Island’s 32nd Annual Quiksilver-Big Island Toyota Pro-Am Surfing Trials will be held at Honolii Beach Park during a waiting period from June 4 to Oct. 2.

The surfing divisions are men’s open, women’s open, open longboard and open bodyboard.

There are limited entries for 80 Big Island resident surfers, and more than $3,000 in prizes will be awarded, including entries to professional surfing events on Oahu’s North Shore.

Surfboards to be awarded include a 5-foot Epoxy Firewire “Mindcraft” by Dan Mann for the men’s division and a woman’s division 5-foot-8 Orchid Land Surf Hi- Performance Thruster shaped & glassed by Dean Edwards of Big Rock Colorworks.

Slow-pitch softball classic

Hawaiian Isle Athletics will hold its annual slow-pitch softball tournament from July 22-24 at Wong Stadium, Walter Victor Stadium and Carvalho Park.

Featuring men’s, coed, women’s and kupuna divisions, the deadline for early registration is June 30.

Hawaii Prep golf tournament

Hawaii Prep’s 20th annual Headmaster’s Cup Golf Tournament will be held at 11 a.m. June 3 at Mauna Kea Beach Golf Club.

Using a two-player shamble format, tee gifts and prizes are available along with a post-golf reception.

Hilo High School is accepting applications for boys volleyball head coach, girls basketball head coach and boys/girls air riflery head coach.

All interested applicants can pick up forms from the school’s main office.

Golf challenge at Hualalai

The Aloha Golf Challenge Senior Skills Challenge will be held 9 a.m. June 19th at Hualalai Resort Golf Course.

Featuring driving, chipping and putting, newly event is a pilot program sponsored by the Aloha Section PGA Foundation with an eye on creating a national PGA of America program designed for senior golfers aged 55 and up.

The fee is $25, and there will be prizes and an awards party immediately held after the competition at the clubhouse.
